May 31, 2018 I made a backup of my iPhoto Library. Now, I want to open my backup iPhoto Library on Microsoft computer. The real answer is that you can get to your photos easily on a Windows computer and copy them easily to any folder (directory) you want. For most people a better solution is to have iCloud Photo Library enabled on the Mac and use.

- Oct 16, 2019 If you're upgrading to Photos for Mac from iPhoto and you've only ever had a single iPhoto library on your Mac, your upgrade path is easy: After you open the app for the first time, Photos will automatically import all your iPhoto images into the app.

If the Media Browser isn't showing your photos and videos

Follow these steps to designate the current library as the System Photo Library:

If you're experiencing other issues – such as missing or blank photo thumbnails, unexpected behaviour or if Photos won’t open – try to see if it's an issue with your library by following these steps.
Create a new Photos library and see if your issues persist:
- Quit Photos.
- Press and hold the Option key while you open Photos.
- In the dialogue that appears, click Create New.
- Give your new library a name, then click OK. Note whether Photos opens successfully with this new library.
To return to your main Photos library, quit Photos. Then open it again while holding the Option key, select your main library, and click Choose Library.
Alternatively, you can open Photos in another user account on your Mac and note whether Photos opens successfully.
